We were absolutely delighted to read in JUST JAZZ MAGAZINE this flattering review by Pete Lay of our most recent CD 'Changes', featuring our favourite vocalist Hamish Maxwell :

"Peter Kings first recorded The Sunset Cafe Stompers about 25 years ago when they were led by the great and much missed Alan Potton (cornet). There have been many changes since then, but the band is still true to its New Orleans roots. The acquisition of Trevor Whiting on reeds is a bonus, not only to the band, but also the listener. He is on top form on this CD. In fact, all the guys play well.
The CD was recorded at a church in Sherborne, Dorset and obviously the ambiance suited the band. The band is joined on five tracks by Hamish Maxwell (vocals). It's a shame we hadn't heard of Hamish years ago - he is an outstanding singer; one of the best in this idiom - shades of Big Joe Turner!
They must be one of the best 'Territory Bands' around today."
